Yani JohansonYani is one of the younger Council members and is as dedicated as ever to fighting for the values of openness, transparency and democracy around the Council.

Debbie MoraA long-time resident, Debbie works in the financial industry. She has advocated on employment and desires to uphold the values, rights and integrity of the community.

Pauline CotterA six year Board Member, Pauline has lived in St Albans for 25 years. She says people are the top priority and pledges to bring the community into the city revival.

The People's Choice (formerly Christchurch 2021), the left-leaning Christchurch local political grouping, has completed their selections for the upcoming local body elections.

Paul McMahon, Chairperson of and candidate for The People's Choice, says he is very pleased with the line-up, "We have a very impressive array of candidates, with new faces and experienced ones, with a mix of backgrounds and qualifications, including three with doctorates and a number with masters degrees - this is a talented group of people committed to their communities."

"I am very proud of the work of our sitting Councillors, Glenn Livingstone, Jimmy Chen and Yani Johanson," McMahon said, "They have withstood a torrid three years and come out vindicated: if the majority of Councillors had heeded their concerns, the Council would be in far better shape now.

"Make no mistake," says McMahon, "A People's Choice Council will be different; it will not be business as usual. We will put people first and will stand with them to rebuild more than just buildings: we will rebuild the trust between the Council and the people from the grassroots up."
